January 2019 Newsletter

A feature in Downbeat, New Waves podcasts with the AAO / Ensemble Offspring, plus Mondays @ the Jazzlab and Transient Thursdays @ Uptown and more!

Greetings!

I hope you've been able to enjoy a slower pace of life thanks to the festive season, and that the new year has begun well for you, and will continue to be fulfilling and peaceful.

I'm excited to share that I was interviewed for the latest Downbeat issue!! You can read the interview here.

If you are finding more space for listening this January, here are a couple of podcasts I am honoured to be included in, both for ABC New Waves with Stephen Adams.
1. The Australian Art Orchestra Sometimes Home Can Grow Stranger Than Space, featuring interviews with Peter Knight, Tilman Robinson and myself, plus the recordings of all three world premiers that occurred at Wangaratta Jazz Festival.

My interview and piece Bent Heart begin around the 1hour mark.

2. Ensemble Offspring Hark the Machine, featuring interviews and recordings of new works by Fiona Hill, myself, and Thomas Meadowcroft.

My interview and piece Love in Solitude being around the 22 minute mark.

Thankfully the year is starting up slowly, but not entirely deserted! Please see details below for January gigs.
I'll be back at the Jazzlab on Monday nights starting this Monday with the Composers Circle, and my Transient Trios will start up again on Thursdays at Uptown in mid Jan.

Luckily for me, 2019 looks to be another year filled with exciting collaborations and music making, I will share the details as the months tick by.

Thanks for reading and supporting creative Australian music!

Warmest,
Andrea
